My Story
So how did I end up as a social entrepreneur?
Largely by accident as it happens….
As a young care worker, I was shocked at the way disabled people’s views and aspirations were routinely ignored. I also witnessed verbal and physical abuse that shocked me to the core.
But I noticed that some people still did well, even in the worst places: those individuals who, somehow, had found their voice and taken some control over their lives.
So, I founded Speaking Up to help more people find their voice and control their own life.
The founding belief of Speaking Up was that having powerful and confident voice is actually as important as anything else in a person’s life.
Priceless in fact.
